Make giving personal 
Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.  God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:6-8

Make giving a priority 

This foundation principal in scripture reminds us how personal and faithful He is to us. He sowed His only begotten son’s life, so that we would reap life. This principal is a reminder that our measure of receiving is directly linked to our sowing, so much so, that God held himself to His own universal Law. He sowed the life of one, for the life of His creation! When we give we should embody this same measure of love the Father has for us.   

Make giving prayerful
 |And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

All things should be decided in prayer. Praying on what, and how to give, is no exception. Our giving should represent our Love for theFather and all He has done for us. 1 John 14:13

Make giving practical

For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have.

Paul teaches us giving is motivated by grace, we will give willingly, and not because we have been forced to give. God sees the “heart gift posture” and not the “hand gift.” If the heart wanted to give more, but was unable to do so, God sees it and records it accordingly. But if the hand gives more than the heart wants to give, God records what is in the heart, no matter how big the offering in the hand might be it's all about your hearts posture. Be led by the Holy Spirit in your giving and allow your heart to be postured right toward God advancing his kingdom and God will bless you in your giving.
